My advice for young people is, study what you love and intern in what you want to do. And I think it’s okay to pivot as many times as you need to.

A month ago, I got an offer from a Product Manager from Silicon Valley, California asking me if I could work as an apprentice cum mentee.

I had been in contact with her, so I was really delighted just by the idea of receiving such mentorship, and as a cherry on top, I also got a decent stipend.

It’s been almost a month since I joined in with her, so I thought I should share it with you guys. Before I tell you what I learned, let me briefly go on with “How & where I received the offer?” !
I surprisingly received it through Instagram, Yes exactly through Instagram.

Seems surprising right, but it’s true. I’ll tell you more about it in my next blog. Basically, it was all about building a rapport with a professional over several platforms one of which was LinkedIn.

Back to the topic, to what I learned.
On my first day, I got to know the working strategy and manner. We followed a pattern of working in 2-week sprints i.e. taking up a topic working, iterating, optimizing, and completing it in 2 weeks' time and then chilling with small random works for the next few days. To be honest I really enjoy this work strategy, even with flexible working hours I kinda stayed productive for the majority of the working hours. Till now I have completed two work sprints, where one was about glossary making for student founders and new pm’s and in the other sprint, I dwelled into the concepts of site mapping, Ghost CMS’s backend, and also brainstorming about platforms and events for the company's community.

About my non-work experience I must say the work culture is so good, I mean there is always so much added learning & fun. We share & laugh on memes all the time. I remember one day I and my mentor were in one of our work sessions and she abruptly asked if I had a partner. And the discussion went so long that we couldn't even finish our tasks that day. These things always motivate us & make learning fun, right ??

So that’s it for this blog. I am so excited to see what’s in store for me in the coming months! ( hoping they will be also full of learning and fun).

Do not forget to follow, upcoming blogs will be full of information, tips & tricks for your betterment.

Stay Tuned!
